THE NEW ENGLAND MARTIAL ARTS DOJO
Thomas Duffy, A lifelong martial artist, has been an Iaido and Kenjutsu practitioner for over 14 years and is the co-founder and chief instructor at the Rhode Island Iaido club. His experiences in other martial arts started in the mid 80's when he trained in Full contact kickboxing at New England Tae Kwon Do and Aikido at the late Shihan John Saviano's dojo in Pawtucket.
After college Thomas continued Aikido training with with Sensei Carl Fasano at the Brown University Aikido club and discovered Iaido while training at New England Aikikai in Cambridge MA with Sensei.
Looking for Iaido more locally,Thomas was introduced to Shihan Michael Brown of the Sei Kosho Shorei Kai at the Rhode Island Martial arts academy in Pawtucket RI and dedicated his training there in Eishin ryu Iaijutsu,Kenjustu and Kosho Ryu Kempo for several years. It was also though Shihan Brown and his seminars that Thomas met and trained with teachers from the Jikishin Kai International and their training opportunities including instructor seminars in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu.
After the academy's closure Thomas ran various study groups in Cranston, Johnston and then reaffiliated himself with the SKSKI and co-founded the RI Iaido and Kempo club at it's current home at the NewEngland Martial Arts Dojo in Seekonk MA, where he trained in Kendo in the past and still trains in Shotokan Karate-do. He and the Club members train directly with Kyoshi Jeff Driscoll of the Sei Kosho Shorei Kai International in Muso Jikiden Iaijutsu and Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo.
Tom also holds Dan Ranks with the Shudokan Martial arts Association and The International Martial Arts Federation in their Iaido divisions.
